term in al’s EIA port is re -con figu red as a 10BaseT (Twisted-Pa ir)
Eth ern et port replacin g th e term in al’s EIA RS-232
com m u n ication s port. Th e adapter provides th e text term in al
with a sin gle Teln et session . (Teln et is a n a pplica tion providin g

Th is adapter works with all th e stan dard term in al
em u la tion s . However, th e h ost em ulat ion sh ou ld m atch th e
t erm in al em ulat ion .
For exa m ple, a u s er logs on to a UNIX s ys tem , a n d s elects
th e h ost em u lation to be AT386 (u sin g th e com m an d
TERM=AT386 <CR> followed by set TERM<CR>). At th is poin t,
th e u s er m u s t m a ke s u re th a t th e term in a l em u la tion is a ls o
set to AT386 (by en terin g th e term inal setu p an d ch eckin g
th e em u la tion pa ra m eter).

If th e Poweron Connect m ode is Off (s ee pa ge 8) a t th e con clu s ion

Edit Default Gateway
In a m u lti-n etwork en viron m en t, a gateway is a h os t th a t
forwards or exch an ges packets of in form ation between two or
m ore n etworks. All tra ffic wh ose destin a tion a ddress ca n n ot be
fou n d on th e local n etwork is s en t to th e IP a d d res s of th e
defau lt gateway for rou tin g to oth er n etworks.
To set th e defa u lt ga tewa y a ddress for you r term in a l, select
option n u m ber 4. Wh en prom pted, en ter th e IP a ddress in

option n u m ber 5 from th e Setu p Men u to toggle th e s ta te of th e
Poweron Con n ect m ode. Th e s election s h ou ld be s et to Yes if
im m edia te con n ection to th e h ost is desired a t poweron . Th e
term in a l will u s e th e NVRAM va lu es (s ee Save Settings for
Powerup) to es ta blis h th e con n ection .

Comm Protocol
Th e a da pter’s com m u n ica tion protocol cou ld be set to Non e,
Xon / Xoff, DTR/ DSR, or Both . Th is settin g sh ou ld m a tch th e
term in al’s com m u n ication protocol settin g for th e EIA port or
els e th e term in a l cou ld los e da ta . If th e com m u n ica tion
protocol is s et to None, th e term in a l cou ld lose da ta .
Recall Saved Setting
Selectin g option n u m ber 7 from th e Setu p Men u s ets th e va lu es
of option s 1 th rou gh 5 to th at cu rren tly stored in NVRAM.
